About this site

KeepLocalHub is a set of free image and PDF tools that do their work on your own device. It's run by one independent developer in the EU who also builds a few other free tool sites. No name and no photo, on purpose: the site is about the tools.

Why it exists

Converting an iPhone photo, shrinking a picture for a form or merging two PDFs shouldn't mean sending private files to a stranger's server, waiting in a queue or hitting a daily limit. Modern browsers can run the same open-source image and PDF engines that desktop apps use, so that's what this site does: the work happens in your browser, and your files stay with you.

How the tools are made

  • The tools are built and tested by the site's owner, with AI help for code and first drafts. Facts on the pages (file formats, photo sizes, page sizes) come from official or primary sources, linked under each tool with the date they were last checked.
  • The work is done by well-known open-source libraries: MozJPEG, libwebp, libavif, OxiPNG and the Squoosh resizer (through jSquash), libheif for iPhone photos, pdf-lib for building PDFs and Mozilla's PDF.js for reading them. The full list with licences is on Open-source licences.
  • Every tool has automated tests with real files: conversions, orientation, size limits, metadata removal and PDF page counts.
  • If something gives a wrong result, say so and it gets fixed.

How the site pays for itself

The tools are free and stay free. The site may show a small number of ads, clearly labelled "Advertisement" and kept away from the tool controls. Your files are never given to the ads or sent anywhere: they're processed inside the tool on your device.

What this site will never do

  • Upload your files, keep copies of them, or ask you to sign up to download a result.
  • Add watermarks, hidden limits or "premium" versions of the same tools.
  • Download videos or copy other people's content.

Free tools for files you have the right to use. Everything runs on your device; check important results (forms, prints, official photos) before you send them. Terms of use.
